A visit to La Barraca

A visit to the hut rounds off the school trip with an insight into the traditional heritage of the Albufera. Pupils will learn what these typical Valencian dwellings were like, why they were built using local materials, and what role they played in the lives of families involved in rice farming, fishing and the landscape of El Palmar.

This part of the activity helps students to understand the Albufera not only as a natural area, but also as a lived-in place, with its own history, customs and way of life. It is a nearby, visually striking stop that allows students to link the surroundings they have seen during the tour with Valencian folk culture.
